Penmanship, the exhibition, is a product of this idea—the idea that ones penmanship is a window into his or her character. A selection of local artists employ their inherent typographic instincts to create black and white prints. Born of a similar idea, the letterforms within the finished pieces are differentiated by shape, scale, contrast, manipulation and layering. A study of personal touch and distinction, the works you’ll see are a clear reflection of individual aesthetic.

In hex sign symbolism 8 pointed stars symbolize goodwill, tulips represent faith/trust and the sheaves of wheat symbolize abundance. This is a fairly common sign so I added the rosette to change it a bit. The single rosette is a symbol for luck, the most basic motif of hex signs and one of the most ancient designs in western culture.
